Aligned is an independent company. We're not owned by Match Group — which owns Tinder, Hinge, Match.com, OkCupid, Plenty of Fish, and a dozen other dating brands — or by any other dating-app group. No venture capital. No outside investors. No board to answer to.
When Pew Research asked Americans which dating apps they use, people named eight. Five of them are now owned by the same company.
That matters more than it sounds like it should. Who owns a dating app determines what it wants from you. An app funded by advertising needs your attention. An app that has to return capital to investors needs your subscription to outlive its usefulness to you. Aligned has one revenue line — subscriptions — and no second incentive hiding behind it.

What we're building
Aligned tells you how compatible you actually are with someone specific — before you spend four months finding out the hard way.
You both answer a questionnaire about the things that quietly end relationships: how much contact is too much, what money is for, whether you want kids, how you behave when something's wrong. Almost none of it has a right answer — we don't ask whether you're kind or honest, because everyone says yes and it tells you nothing. You both say what you'd actually accept in a partner. You both choose how much gets revealed. And then you both see the same report.
What we're not: there is no swipe feed. There is no messaging. The persona quiz is for fun, and it is deliberately not part of how compatibility is computed.
Four things we decided early — and the pages that prove them
The score is not a prophecy.
It measures whether what you each said you want lines up with what the other one said is true. It cannot tell you whether you'll fall in love. Nothing can — and we'd rather say so than sell you the opposite.

Every other app earns from your attention, so it has to hold your attention. We earn from a subscription you can cancel in one click. If Aligned works, you'll stop needing it. That's survivable, and it's the whole difference.
